Why is it so flippin' expensive?! I would expect the dirndl to be more since it has been retired a lot longer, but the dirndl is considerably cheaper on eBay than the checked dress.
Do things tend to be more expensive shortly after they retire and then come down somewhat as time goes by? (I'm just wondering how long I have to wait for this dress!)

I think the reason is that the checked dress was a special limited edition dress that came out with the short stories and was only around for a short time. The drindl, on the other hand, was an extra dress that Kirsten had in her collection for about ten years, so they probably sold a lot more of them, making more avalible to sell on ebay.

I feel your pain. I really want that dress, but I'm not paying fifty plus dollars for it.

I know, I refuse to pay that much for ANY outfit. The BIN prices are $100 or more! The one I was watching tonight went for $65 -- my little girl even said, "Don't pay that much, Mom."
For LESS than that price tonight, I got the retired Today tent, chair, sleeping bag and camping utensils (complete except for the cooking stick -- but I thought a real stick would be cuter anyway). That kind of put it in perspective for me -- I LOVE the outfit, but I'd rather have SEVERAL things that I want for that amount of money rather than just one dress.
I guess my only hope is to find one that is incorrectly listed or in a big lot of stuff or a nice handmade one.
